Review on Fox Run 7211 Spatula Stainless by Jennifer Katz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very durable device with a weakness

Not bought for cookies. I bought it for my work with COCORAHS. My previous spatula was plastic. I need a tool with a wide and strong base and a well-formed handle when collecting core samples from the depths of snow and ice. My plastic broke this year. Because? I moved to Maine from Washington State. We don't often get freezing rain and ice storms in central Washington. Maine was very different. I spent a lot of time looking at different options with the features I needed and finally settled on it. When I finally received it I found the seal very durable. The pad is 8" and 1/8" long and 6" and 1/2" wide. Its thickness is 1/16 inch. The handle is full size with three prongs. Each is half an inch wide. The length of the handle is 5 1/2 inches and is 1 inch at the widest point at the end. The handle is well made and fits my hand perfectly. The only weak point I found was the elbow. I should be able to lift more weight than a simple biscuit many times. I also need to be able to hack and dig with it if necessary to clear the snow and ice in the area where I will be harvesting the core. The elbow is often bent. has no shape and doesn't require much weight to even bend. If I were a manufacturer I would seriously consider thickening this area of the tool. I haven't tested it with cookies yet...in their heads when they did so it wouldn't be fair to scold them for it. Finally, be aware that I still use it, hence my five star rating.
