Review on πŸ‘“ Pilestone Aviators TP 006 Glasses for Visual Impairment by Reza Cook

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Helped our son become a safer driver

We bought the TP-006 color blind aviator goggles for our son who suffers from red/green blindness to see if he could find more expensive ones Options like the red contact filter or the more famous color blind glasses that cost over $250 would do the trick. First, let's clear up some misunderstandings. These glasses prevent the person from seeing the missing colors like a non color blind person. Instead, these glasses help change the contrast of colors that look the same to have more or less contrast so a person can better distinguish them from other colors that usually look the same. When my son put them on, he didn't notice any difference at first. It wasn't until he started noticing certain objects around the house and outside that now looked different that he was able to appreciate the effect. For example, some yellows now "pop" (his words). He can now see yellow warning signs. Now he sees the yellow stripes on the road. Now he can see from a much greater distance whether a traffic light is red, yellow or green. In the color blindness test, he can still correctly identify a few targets. These glasses are as dark as sunglasses, making them difficult to use indoors or outdoors on cloudy days or evening days. The side of the lens that we see has an iridescent specular tint. The side of the lens that the user is looking through gives the world a pink tint with a sunglass effect. It reminds me of looking at a blank frame on developed 35mm film. The fit is similar to any aviator sunglasses you'll find in a big store. It comes with a nice storage case and the design seems to be comparable to regular sunglasses. I'm rating them 5 stars because of the price compared to a competitor's product ($70 vs. $299) and they do what they are. was developed to enable a color-blind person to distinguish several more shades that are usually mixed. For my son it didn't capture all the targets on the color blindness test and I'm curious if there are any. Other lenses would help more. For now, it was enough for us to move forward by touching the red filter on his non-dominant eye.
