Review on Dektite Silicone Metal Flashing Round by Don Santos

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Expensive but effective.

They're pretty expensive, but they work really well. I used one on a penetration next to a problem area on our standing seam (north facing valley) roof. The silicone cone, cut to pipe size, slides firmly over the pipe. The tin ring around the base fits into the roof fairly easily - in my case just above one of the standing seams. A little extra silicone sealant to improve the seal (manufacturer's manual says it's ok but not necessary, I guess it's common sense) and sheet metal screws to attach the base to the roof. I don't expect to see more leaks even as the snow piles up. By the way, four stars versus five refers to the price. I just don't understand why they are so expensive. If they were cheaper I would probably do all the penetrations through the roof. Instead, I just made a problem area.
