Review on 🍎 Spiralizer Heavy Duty Die Cast Magnesium Alloy Apple/Potato Peeler Corer, Durable Peelers by Lisa Couture

Revainrating 4 out of 5

It's nice to be able to cut more feet than just balls

I really like cooked apple pies, especially crispy ones. I've had very good results at 5 from a plastic razor blade apple steamer. I ended up breaking enough teeth on Thanksgiving to replace them. I was about to buy a tool similar to the one that has served me well, but Thanksgiving potato peelers piqued my interest in something that could handle unusual shapes. That fits the bill. In the questions there are a number of questions related to magnesium and steel. The shiny propeller appears to be made of steel for strength, while the frame, painted red, is made of magnesium for lighter weight. All are right. I believe it will last longer than I did - something I will pass on to posterity in my will (along with my credit card bills). As well as durability, the food skewers are thicker and form a larger diameter ring than my old one - it can handle apples that have gone a little soft. Spiral cutting (note that the spiral is two-dimensional on one plane, as opposed to the three-dimensional spiral of Watson and Crick's DNA model) is excellent for making cakes. Using an old jig I slice the apple, use a center punch/wedge and then cut the slices. I cut the spiral into four pieces and the pieces are the perfect size. I haven't tried making curly fries (are they still called french fries?). The only downside I've found so far is that the horseshoe shaped blade bites a little deeper than the flat blade on the old device. I found wedding gifts for my nieces and nephews. (I wonder if there is a volume discount)
