Review on πŸ›οΈ 300 Thread Count Percale Cotton Sheet Set - Queen Size, White - Pinzon by Amazon by Michelle King

Revainrating 5 out of 5

If you're looking for percale then you've come to the right place!

5 stars for these plates! If you are looking for an authentic 100% cotton percale sheet, this is it! I personally like the dense, crunchy feel of new cotton. It's early summer so I need sheets that breathe and wick moisture. I want to clarify some of the reviews I've seen here. Some reviewers warned about wrinkles. Wrinkles in cotton are a permanent thing, it's just the nature of cotton. I've also seen reviews warning that they felt these sheets were terribly scratchy after their first wash. Despite their good intentions, these reviewers may not have been that familiar with percale sheets, but they weren't technically wrong. I didn't find these sheets scratchy at all. I found them crispy, cooling and breathable. If you're looking for a soft, fluffy, silky sheet straight out of the box, percale may not be for you, at least not until it's broken in. its shape. Because of the way percale sheets are woven, with a new sheet set you will feel the weaving of the threads as you run your hand over the sheet. It didn't bother me at all. In fact, my first night on those sheets was the best sleep I've had in a long time. After prolonged use (e.g. not on guest beds, on a bed that is actually used) and some washing, the sheets start to look more like hotel sheets. (hotels usually use percale sheets, btw) I've seen some reviews mentioning shrinkage of the sheets. That's the deal. If you wash your sheets more often than they are needed, I see that as a problem. Cotton fibers stretch with use and return to their original state with washing. Using sheets helps soften them in the same way that washing them does. If you are looking for sheets for a guest bedroom, I would recommend sheets that have been well used and have had the fibers sag. In general, percale linens generally last longer than other fabrics and feel just like the soft, cool, crisp linens you'll find in a hotel. These sheets are just that, and that is indeed the way to go. Good night!

Pros
  • Percale is known for its fresh feel and matte finish. More durable than satin, is a bit stiff at first but softens with washes.
