Sometimes the valve sticks.
On initial installation I had a few instances where the solenoid would energize but the valve stayed closed until I tapped it with a screwdriver. Since then I believe it has worked reliably. I've had to replace the solenoid valve on the Aprilaire several times in the 25 years of operation and I've always bought replica parts (admittedly because of the price). . Others also had problems with sticking. Next time I can buy an OEM part and see if it's 100% reliable or not, IDK.
