Review on DALSTRONG Shadow Black 7CR17MOV X Certified by Tori Williams

I am a home cook who cooks every day. In search of the perfect chef's knife, I was drawn to the unique design of Dalstrong's Shadow Black series. When I received the knife I was amazed at the packaging. With the case's magnetic pull tab, padded interior, and included safety pin, the packaging heightened my anticipation for the knife itself. My first impressions of the knife itself were pretty good. The grip material is one of the best I've ever felt. It's grippy enough that the knife doesn't fall out of your hand, and at the same time not so grippy that it feels sticky. The handle is also a good weight with a balance point maybe an inch or so behind where the handle meets the blade. I did notice a few small scratches on the black finish, which was disappointing, but I felt it was a worthy sacrifice for the cool design. When I first used the knife, I was amazed at its sharpness. I particularly liked the thin blade, which allowed me to cut onions without resistance. What bothered me a bit was that the back of the handle is pretty sharp, and when I performed a low kick, this piece would hit my forearm just behind the wrist. This may not be a problem for someone with large hands or if you hold the knife further by the handle than the blade. Unfortunately, after a week of use, the knife was no longer able to cut through the tomatoes without resistance. . I tried sharpening the knife and that helped, but the blade still wasn't as sharp as it was when it was unpacked. I'm not a knife expert so that might be fine, but as a home cook I need a knife I can use for a week without having to pull out the whetstone. Conclusion: If you are looking for a work of art or are very good at sharpening knives, this may be the perfect knife for you. Otherwise I would pass for a knife that stays sharp longer.
