Review on Locating Magnetic Woodworking Carpenters Carpentry by Allan Duman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Poor build quality translates into poor strength and durability, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

This pocket hole mount is a more affordable alternative to Kreg's classic pocket hole mount. However, it is cheaper because it is made from less expensive but also less durable materials. For example, the metal sleeve that guides the drill to create the hole in the pocket is aluminum rather than stainless steel like the Kreg version. While I cannot attest to this at the moment, it must be assumed that this trait will not be positive for its longevity and longevity. If you have a specific project, which is probably the only time or one of the few times you'll need a tool like this, it might be worth going the cheaper route. But if you plan on using a pocket hole gauge frequently and consistently, I have a feeling that a Kreg or Milescraft brand gauge will easily outlive that particular version depending on build quality, and for that reason it might also evolve into a more economical one over time become a purchase. One thing I found quite tacky was the item's packaging, which was just a clear, regular plastic bag that had to be ripped open to get to the mount. There is no labeling on the box, either on the box itself or on the product itself. But those are the corners that have been trimmed on purpose to get this price point. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. Depending on the frequency with which you are going to use this device, it may be the most sensible choice.
