Review on πŸ–₯️ Acer UT241Y Bmiuzx: Dual Hinge Touchscreen Monitor with Tilt Adjustment, HDMI, IPS, and 1920X1080P resolution at 60Hz by Richard Lopez

Acer's latest touchscreen suffers from poor documentation: here's what you need to know.

UT 1 is Acer's latest touch monitor, launched in June 2018. This is a very beautiful FHD (Full High Definition) touch screen with a thin bezel and the latest style. UT 1 includes a USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable and a USB Type-C connector that provides data, power, and video signals in DisplayPort Alternate Mode. It features an integrated USB 3.0 hub with two Type-A ports on the back. If your computer doesn't have a Type-C port, you can use HDMI for video and audio, but you'll also need a USB Type-A to USB Type-C cable for the touchscreen to work. These are common cables for modern smartphones and can often be found online. Acer support incorrectly claims it's not a touchscreen, but of course it is. The touchscreen works very well with Linux in single-point mode. The touchscreen surface is anti-glare, not glassy; The surface of the touchscreen display is not highly reflective and does not leave fingerprints. He is very sensitive to touch. The base offers full tilt freedom, which is an important requirement for touchscreens. I've been using touchscreens since 1986 and this is the first touchscreen I've ever used that gives me that kind of freedom. In summary, Acer ONLY SUPPLIES THIS with a 3.1 USB-C to USB-C cable, and if you have a USB Cable Type-C port on your computer, this cable will transmit both the touch screen and also the video signals and you win. Do not use the HDMI or VGA cables provided by Acer. In my opinion, Acer MUST ship it with a USB-C to USB Type-A cable. I bought 4 packs of braided cables for $9.59 from China. While waiting for them to arrive, I used the USB Type-C charging cable from my smartphone!

Pros
  • 11.73 pounds
Cons
  • Bad viewing angles. Poor viewing angles can cause the display to appear distorted or blurry when viewed from the side or at an angle.
