Review on πŸ–ŠοΈ Caran D'ache Pencil-sharpening Machine (455.200): Ultimate Precision and Efficiency by Jennifer Roberts

Revainrating 5 out of 5

They work great with crayons and are much more comfortable on the hands.

I bought this sharpener primarily for artist quality colored pencils. After reading the reviews and such, I understand that it's not necessarily meant for wax or oil crayons like that, but I've also read enough reviews to know that people use them that way. From time to time I sharpen graphite pencils to "clean" my sharpening blades. Before that I mainly used single-blade manual sharpeners for my pastel pencils Caran D'ache Luminance, Prismacolors, FC Polychromos, Derwent Inktense, Stabilo. small hand sharpeners that I used. I haven't had any glitches with Prismacolors and I love that you can adjust the sharpness of the lead. The construction of the sharpener is solid (steel I assume) and well made. Impressive: The edges of the pencil shavings drawer are not welded or glued, but precisely cut and bent. It's firm enough that the chips stay in place, and even if the edges aren't held together (you can press lightly to see they're not glued). In general it is a quality product. Of course there are others in the same style that can probably do the same thing but cost significantly less. I can't judge whether the performance of this sharpener justifies the price compared to other sharpeners. I really know I'm happy with the purchase, it's a well made item that did what I wanted, sharpened my (not so cheap) quality artist pencils to a good point with little fuss or breakage.
