Good vacuum cleaner but no collision avoidance or mapping

I've wanted a robot vacuum cleaner for a long time. I have two large dogs and something like this seemed like a great way to help with my daily cleaning routine. And when I found many offers for this model, I was hooked. But i think i will send it back. However, I want to give an honest review, so let's go. Pros: Impressive cleanability: Overall, the m201 does an excellent job of cleaning. Good suction, the swingarm works well and certainly made an impression. Trash Can Storage: It holds more than you think; also when working with caterpillars in mud and dog hair. Size: While I have no experience with other brands or models, I was pleased with the small clearance that allowed getting under closet ledges etc. Battery life: No comparison here either - but somehow ok. Disadvantages: Collision detection/avoidance: none. Like a drunk, angry child, m201 races across the floor, oblivious to its surroundings. Not once did he dodge any objects. Sensors are missing or defective. And even when it collides, most of the time it keeps pushing and knocking things over. He pushed over and almost knocked over dog food bowls and water bowls and a cardboard cutout. And he almost reached a 30 degree angle and tried to climb onto the shelf leg before finally giving up. Conversely, I've watched him give up as soon as he barely touched a shoe or dog toy. It makes no sense. Zero Mapping: m201 has absolutely no idea where it is. He doesn't remember anything and wanders around endlessly. One night I couldn't keep him away from my kitchen. I've tried using the app controls multiple times to steer it to another room. I even took it and moved it. But a few minutes later he returned to the kitchen. Surface Changes: While knocking over items with sheer determination, a 1/4-inch threshold creates an impenetrable border. Also opt for a zero pile rug. Just trying to climb the carpet or the kitchen threshold is almost impossible. Trash Can Design: This is a minor complaint, but the fit is poorly designed. Removing the container can be difficult as it is very narrow with almost no gap. I almost opened it up and threw it over the vacuum to get it out. Back to the dock: this is just sad to see. Since there is no display, I guess it depends on IR to find the dock. Which can be painful to watch. I placed it five feet away from me and it still took over five minutes to dock. Connecting to the app: As many have pointed out, this is a ridiculous pain in the ass. It took over an hour to reset using both the automatic and manual methods. I don't even know what happened when it was finally connected. It just happened. I have Google Fiber and I can't turn off 5GHz. So my guess is that he connected for a short time when he was on 2.4Support: your support page doesn't exist. So yes. All in all, if you need a robot vacuum, I'm sure there are worse options. I'd be lying if I said it was absolute crap. Does its job well. But the performance is not enough. It probably works best in a smaller or more open environment. And there were no carpets or sleepers.
