Review on Weston Burger Hamburger 07 0301 Patties by Karen Parker

Can't understand all the good reviews 2020

Is it used to make cakes? Yes. The hinged design is imperfect? Yes. Is it out of balance? Yes. Is it a royal pain to clear? A thousand times YES. I have always believed in quality products. This is one of the few times I wonder what the hell people are talking about. This patty machine (the only version I bought) is extremely heavy. When the top hinge is raised to allow the patty to be loaded or unloaded, it tends to tip backwards at the slightest movement. This happened several times and I had to check the countertop for chips/damage. The device is heavy, but in the wrong places. It would be better if the bottom was much heavier to offset the weight of the top. A screw with adjustable thickness is a great idea in theory, but remember that those very thick hamburgers you're trying to cook will turn into hockey pucks (even if they're flattened in the center with a dimple) since the overall diameter of the tortilla isn't can be enlarged. I would recommend a diameter of 5 inches or larger (knowing full well that the patty will shrink on the grill) if you want to cook anything heavier than a 1/3 pound patty. Also, pressing the top of this press requires quite a bit of force (to be expected) on the top handle. Repeatedly squeezing the handle hard after a few patties is tiring quickly. The palm will remind you. Finally, the cleaning is terrible. Even if parchment paper, plastic wrap or some other barrier is used, it will inevitably tear and spill meat juices/particles on the metal itself. The meat comes out between the upper adjustable platen and the inside wall of the top of the press! This one just missed the mark for me. Perhaps others have better luck or more patience in using and cleaning this press.
