Neither device was within the specified +/- 5%. Tested on a freshly calibrated high quality (expensive) areometer. I agree as I wasn't expecting much. I can just compare them with a calibrated device and do some quick calculations. However, I would expect them to appear at least within 5% +/- of each other. Not even close compared to each other. Block #1 differed from block #2 by almost 12 degrees, and the humidity of #1 was 40% and #2 - 10%. I unplugged the batteries for 12 hours to restart them and then put them back in and given them 24 hours to stabilize with the same results. It also started reading in Celsius, but that was corrected after the batteries were removed again. I don't need very accurate readings for my purpose, but I do need them to be fairly accurate between units from the same batch, which was impossible.
