Good functional replacement for a standard cage

I got tired of looking at the standard cage in the living room and bought it as a gift for me and my dog. It felt like our living room had been transformed and our dog loves it. A few things to look out for (and why it's 4 stars instead of 5): 1) This is NOT for dogs that are destructive or hate their cage. It's not a very strong structure. Functional, yes. But any squishy Houdini dog could easily break free and destroy this thing. The roof just sits on, the bars can flex if the dog wants them to and the latch could be a little firmer. But my dog is a dog looking for a cage/den. He likes to have a hideout where he can socialize and a place to get away from the kids so this box does the job perfectly and meets the requirements. 2) No drawer insert is included. I took a tray from our old drawer and put it on the upholstered bed. Not much, but something I personally would like to know. 3) The boxes are small. I have a medium sized border collie that weighs 37 pounds and the largest cage will fit him. There he can stand up, turn around and stretch out fully. It may not be suitable for dogs larger than the average Labrador. Overall I like it and would recommend it for dogs that are non-destructive and like cages, as well as owners that want a nicer, more functional cage in their living space.

Pros
  • wooden pet cage turns into a gate
Cons
  • boring packaging
