This is my second unit picked up for my second home. I drove the device back and forth. Sometimes I forgot the remote control and had to go back and get it. They work like a VCR Plus, you set the channel, date, on and off time. I use them to record drunk shows to play back to my 99 year old mother. (normal DVR can not be controlled). These devices play all recorded programs until you stop them (big nanny) like a cassette. But a lot more space to write. I have other devices for myself but this one is great for my mom. The device I just received has a large remote control that is much easier to use. I use a device with a large remote control to record at about four times the speed. I almost threw this little remote control away so many times. Remote controls are not interchangeable between devices. All Considerations - A basic DVR for the price of a converter box is great.
