My BCM and OE hens have a sticky coating that sticks to regular pine shavings, so all of our eggs were covered in small bits of wood that wouldn't wash off. Since we switched to these lovely pads all of our eggs have come out clean and residue free as the eggs don't stick to them - amazing! Organic herbs contain a blend of mint and lavender that smells great and helps repel lice and mites. The end result is a very healthy, relaxed flock laying lots of tasty, clean eggs. The mattresses stretch slightly to fit a larger birdhouse, are durable and easy to swap out when needed (which doesn't happen often). Highly recommended!
