This tote bag was perfect for my families traveling across the country. The photos attached are from the end of the trip and it still looks brand new. Just to give you an idea of how this bag can hold up, we drove almost 3,000 miles from Idaho to Florida. There were several instances of high winds and heavy rains during our trip and everything in the bag remained safe and sound. I checked the straps every time I stopped to fill up and it never came off my roof rack. I only used the side rails of my rack to attach it as my cross rails were too far apart to attach and it didn't slide forward or back at all. I had about 100 pounds of stuff in my bag, so that can change if you're carrying light items in it. I didn't notice too much of a change in gas mileage, which averages about 75-85 mph on the freeway, but my SUV also has a tilt toward my roof rack, so maybe that helped with wind resistance. There aren't any real security features in this bag as we planned on leaving it in the car if we stopped for the night, but the zip holes are big enough to fit a standard TSA luggage lock and it worked great. If someone really wanted to get in, I could certainly cut through with a knife. our needs.
