I've bought six of these over the last few years. There's nothing fancy about them, but they have clean, simple software that gets the job done without fuss. Extremely easy to set up as a router, access point or repeater. You can buy it as a router and then reuse it as an access point. Manufacturers often artificially limit such devices to one mode of operation. Great for small businesses and remote offices, for example, unlike the Cisco, Netcomm, and Linksys routers/access points I've used before, you can configure these Edimax devices to access them from a different subnet on the _LAN_ side can be configured remotely. AC1200 is not the fastest Wi-Fi speed, but it can probably support 90-100% of the devices in your home/office. Don't buy that $300 router until you know it's actually a lot better than that $50 router. I emailed Edimax support twice with questions about firmware versions and they responded quickly and amazingly knew what they were talking about.
