One of my best purchases

I used my laptop as a bridge between my previous runner and jetpack. Due to a defective hard drive, the laptop finally fell into oblivion. After reading the reviews here I ordered the AC1200 and my IT guy installed it. This is probably the cheapest router I've ever owned and has turned out to be one of the best buys. The only problem we have is that we can't connect from the outside. I contacted EdiMax and tech support responded within hours. The most striking thing about the AC1200 is its…

Error after 12 months of use

I bought this router because it supports WISP mode. It was easy to set up and the WISP mode worked great for about 1 year. Then the download speed started to drop. I typically get 20-25Mbps which was more than enough for my usage. After 12 months, the download began to drop even though the WiFi source was still running at full speed. I turned off the router and left it off while I ran some errands. When I turned the power back on, the speed returned to normal, but after a few days it slowed…

Great basic router or access point, I've bought six

I've bought six of these over the last few years. There's nothing fancy about them, but they have clean, simple software that gets the job done without fuss. Extremely easy to set up as a router, access point or repeater. You can buy it as a router and then reuse it as an access point. Manufacturers often artificially limit such devices to one mode of operation. Great for small businesses and remote offices, for example, unlike the Cisco, Netcomm, and Linksys routers/access points I've used…

0GHz channels have faster speed and better quality of service

I use this in WISP mode, mainly to connect to Tengo internet at RV parks. It connects to 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz hotspots so you can choose. I use 5.0GHz connections whenever possible because 1) it avoids the common channel congestion that is common with 2.4GHz, and 2) 5.0GHz channels have faster speeds with better quality of service. The local Wi-Fi network created by this device also supports both 5.0 and 2.4. GHz connections. So new devices can connect at 5.0GHz while older devices like printers…
