Review on Refurbished Edimax BR-6478AC V2 AC1200 Gigabit Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router/Range Extender/AP/Bridge/WISP with USB Port and VPN - White by Nigel Cohen

I bought this router because it supports WISP mode. It was easy to set up and the WISP mode worked great for about 1 year. Then the download speed started to drop. I typically get 20-25Mbps which was more than enough for my usage. After 12 months, the download began to drop even though the WiFi source was still running at full speed. I turned off the router and left it off while I ran some errands. When I turned the power back on, the speed returned to normal, but after a few days it slowed down again and stopped completely. Cycling had no effect this time. Based on the symptoms, it looks like a hardware failure. For the price I expected a longer lifespan. I ran more tests and the only mode that doesn't work anymore is WISP mode. If I connect a cable from my wired network to one of the LAN ports on this router, I can connect to my network using the router's WiFi.
