Compared to the small size, it looks more like a realistic tree/stone. I will be using a medium size for my craft display. Pets will most likely be fine, but remember the ramp is steep and short. Some of the smaller critters may not be able to get in or out very well, so I would recommend burying them in your habitat for easier access and not filling them more than 1/3 or 1/2 full. in the best case.
