I bought it to use in candle making so it's a good thing I didn't need exact accuracy every second because I would never get it that way . It takes forever to take readings and since I didn't have a clamp I couldn't attach it to the side of the pot while it takes the temperature. While the digital display is handy given the time it takes to take the temperature, I'd prefer to read a dial thermometer because at least it's instantaneous. So yes, it works, but it's slow and annoying.
