Works well and is quite efficient.
Bought a few of these to add USB power ports to my pedal. It was bench tested with 9V to 24V before installation and worked very well over the entire input voltage range. The power transfer efficiency is around 85%, which is very reasonable for such a cheap device. I feed mine from a 9V 1A source. The output is about 4.7V and 1.5A at a full 1A from a 9V power supply. About 1.4W is dissipated as heat, which is normal for outdoor cooling. But it feels hot. Any additional draw and fan may be required.
