I ride quite a bit in the desert and technically in the mountains. Horseback rides into the desert can last up to 4 hours. There are many good seats from different manufacturers. I like to try new products from time to time just to see how they look. Selle Italia and Specialized are two of my favorite stores. I also like the Ergon saddle. It's comfortable and looks well made. No problem on long tours. The only thing I don't like is that it squeaks and pops when you grab the saddle to move the bike. There is movement where the rails enter the seat. Most manufacturers use glue in this area. If it gets worse I'll go back to my Specialized Phenom 143mm.
