more smoke came out because he lifted the door higher out of the firebox. You'd better try bending the metal to make it sit perfectly flush. After smoking a pork butt with this melted gasket, I used wood and charcoal in the firebox and the gasket melted. I may try another product as this one definitely didn't work for me.
