Stopped working after 11 months. Garbage?

I bought this 5 inch door latch in November 2016. The latch stuck inside and didn't work. Luckily this happened with the door open. I couldn't close the door, but I was able to remove the door handle and push out the doorknob, but the handle system was damaged in the process. As I have Kwikset door handle systems in my house I will probably order another one. The house is locked with a key, I would return the goods but I don't see an option to do so.
