Review on πŸ”Œ iJDMTOY EP27 FL27 Electronic LED Flasher Relay: Fix Hyper Flash with 5-Pin LED Turn Signal Bulbs by Richard Jarvis

Works great in KIA RIO5

I wanted to replace the turn signal bulbs on my 2011 KIA RIO5 with LEDs, I knew I will be hyper blinking if I switch to LEDs: WHY DOES HYPERFLASHING HAPPEN? has a component that controls the turn signals, that component can be in the form of a flasher relay or, on some European and newer vehicles, a control module. This component is designed to detect the power consumed by halogen bulbs, LEDs use less power and the component cannot detect them. This is considered an error code and will start flashing to alert you that something is wrong and that you should check your lightbulbs, it's a built in safety feature. There are several ways to solve this problem: SOLUTION #1: INSTALL LOAD RESISTORS Almost everyone recommends installing terminators, however this is NOT the right way to fix hyper flashing and causes more problems in the long run because: They generate A LOT of HEAT and put more stress on your cords and plastic parts, and this beats the goal of switching to LEDs. They're more difficult to install because you have to cut the wires and figure out where to put them so they can unravel. heat without damaging existing parts in your vehicle. You need a load resistor for each LED bulb. SOLUTION 2: REPLACE FLASHING RELAY - flashing. They are designed to detect a wider range of power consumption, allowing them to work with LED and halogen bulbs. You simply replace a block of turn signals and all turn signals are ready to use. SOLUTION 3: OBDII ECU UPDATE Many European and some new cars are equipped with an ECU that controls turn signal lights. This controller also controls the wattage and resistance of the bulb. If the readings are out of range, the ECU will generate an error code and the car light will illuminate on the dashboard. You can change ECU parameters to work with LED bulbs via OBDII. I chose SOLUTION #2 because my car is equipped with a flasher relay (2011 KIA Rio5) so make sure to research your specific application. In my case I was looking for a LED turn signal compatible with my model and brand and I found this iJDMTOY turn signal that detects power consumption from 0.1W to 150W. BENEFITS - Plug and play, no wires to cut! - Works with LED and halogen lamps. .- You can change the blinking speed! This is the coolest feature of this relay. - Good quality. CONS - It's a little bulky but I knew that beforehand and decided to install it with an H4 female harness extension. I also had to sand the sides of the pins a bit to fit the car socket as they are slightly wider than the relay pins, but that wasn't a big deal to me. All in all I am very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this solution rather than installing terminators.
