This replaces a 30 year old antenna that is 5 times the size but no gain. I figured it should draw about the same number of channels on the same rod at 20ft. I have all the low powered UHF stations, but much tighter, much more powerful networks on VHF were patchy. The strongest station on Channel 10 looked pixelated when pointed directly at it, about 14 miles away. I threw away the included coax as another review suggested - slightly better but still pixelated. I unplugged the power supply from the rotor/amplifier box to see how much signal I lost without amplification. phew! Lol every channel came out clean! The rotor works perfectly, but not only was there no signal gain, it was interfering with reception! The idea is cool and the antenna is inexpensive, but I'm going to buy a "real" amp to line it up with. farther than the station I used to get. And I don't think this one will last me 30 years like the old one did. Lesson learned: It's probably better to just buy individual components. **Update: The purchase price was refunded immediately, even without my asking. Customer service is pretty good and I suspect I just received a defective unit.
