This is a compact Wi-Fi dongle - it only sticks out half an inch from the USB port. It uses the Realtek RTL8811cu chip. When you plug it into your computer for the first time, the dongle appears as a flash drive with drivers on it. There are drivers for Windows and MacOS. Wi-Fi drivers were not automatically installed by Windows; You must run the installer from the USB stick. This is a single stream device so it has a maximum speed of 433Mbps at 5GHz as stated in the product description. Performance was ok given the size of the device - it could be used for my desktop but is slower than my laptop's built-in Wi-Fi (which can handle 2 streams, so a maximum of 866Mbps). The Wi-Fi chipset that this dongle uses is poorly supported by Linux - you'll need to download the driver separately and possibly run additional commands to switch it from the flash drive indicator to Wi-Fi mode. Considering the low price of $12, easy installation, and decent performance, this is a good Wi-Fi dongle if you want something compact. A downside is the poor Linux support. Personally, I'd spend a few bucks more to get a Wi-Fi dongle that supports 2 streams at 866Mbps, but they tend to be more, so if you need something small. This is a good option.
