I bought two of these for my boys and they wore them to the beach all day. They protected their skin as they needed it. The material is just the right thickness. The sleeves were a bit long, but that's not critical. Actually worked for my 11 year old who has long arms. 6 years didn't even attract attention because they didn't hang or anything. 11 years old, small for his age and thin, he fits a size. 12 med. 6 yr old is pretty average and he was wearing a size 8 XS. Both were a perfect match. I also liked that the colors are quite vibrant which I like to do for kids who can easily spot them as they play in the water.
