Contacts are one of the most important considerations when it comes to replacement tips of this type. If the contacts are set too far, the iron will not heat up and will be unusable until the white material is clipped from the contact end of the tip. The other 3 considerations are the ability of the tip to remain viable over time, the amount of time it takes for the tip to reach and maintain proper heat and temperature, and finally the accuracy of the thermal element in the tip. The thermocouple heats up faster than the tip reaches temperature. The tip will typically delay at least 30 seconds and possibly a little more if there is a large thermal area to be heated. These tips reach operating temperature as quickly as any I've worked with.
