Review on Ultimate Entertainment with LG BP135 Blu-ray Disc Player: USB Recording & Playback Features by Phillip Hoover

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Eat my new CD! 2. UPDATE

I have used this player 3 times since purchase. It worked the first 2 times. I just played a new Blu-ray movie disc that won't eject. I had to remove the lid to get the disc back! When the tray is pulled out, the disc is inside and pushed into the back of the player. I would not buy an LG Blu-ray player! Removing a new drive should be an easy process. I haven't spoken to LG about this but I don't think it will help although it's still under warranty based on the replies I got from LG. I can still call. UPDATE: I don't recommend people to do what I did, but I was happy with opening the player and ejecting the disc. Then I pulled the top spindle, the retaining plate on the motorized bottom spindle and cleaned it (top spindle only) because on my new platter I found some sticky residue right where the top spindle had gripped the platter. I used a very small amount of petroleum jelly (the only thing that could remove it) to clean the surface of the spindle and the printed area on top of the Blu-ray where the spindle hooks it. I then used dish soap to wash off the petroleum jelly. I put the spindle back in and tried several times to eject the disc with the player lid open with no problems. Since it was a set of 2 discs, I also cleaned the other disc, although there were no marks on it. I hope this fixed the problem. I once had a similar problem with a regular DVD player because I bought a used DVD with a donut label where the spindle made contact with the disc which the used DVD dealer added and removed and a left a sticky trail. It wasn't the case this time as the Blu-ray disc was new from the factory so I don't know where the sticky residue came from. That's why I raised the star rating of this player a bit. When I don't have this problem, the player shows very well and works without any problems. I hope it helps. SECOND UPDATE: I watched the second Blu-ray disc and had no problems ejecting the disc. Now I'm sure the problem was the sticky residue on the drive. The movies had a lot of special effects (The Hobbit) and the picture and sound were excellent with no glitches so I upped the star rating again. Since I don't, I don't know where the rest came from and I've had no issues with other drives prior to the stuck drive and no issues since I got rid of the sticky residue. Audio system.) The reason I went with LG was the price and I had previously bought an LG Blu-ray burner for my computer and had no problems with it. All's well that ends well. where the rest came from and I've had no issues with other drives prior to the stuck drive and no issues since I got rid of the sticky residue. Audio system.)
