Works very well in a vice

Although I haven't tried it with a hammer, it worked very well in a vise to crimp 4 AWG wire into copper connectors. The connector is a snug fit with the device and the use of a vise ensures consistent, controlled compression. The wire is crimped very tightly and does not stretch. This device is a lot cheaper than some of the manual crimping machines I've seen. I haven't tried smaller wire gauges, but I'm sure it will work just as well.
