Review on Stratagem 4-Panel GM Screen - Customizable, Dry Erase Dungeon & Game Master Accessory For Tabletop RPG Campaigns (Black) + Free Inserts! by Robin Haynes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is the best manufactured DM/GM Screen for under 20$ (Read!)

I'll be honest I was a little hesitant on my rating here between 5 stars or 4 stars, but I will give this the benefit of my doubt and put it as a 5. The main reason being, as I said in my title, this is the best option for under 20 bucks shipped. Now that I have it in hand, I want to confirm a few things:First, it came in perfect condition. No issues with the edges or anything.Second, I got it in one day (I know this is location specific but still I wanted to mention that)Third, it comes with everything shown and allows inserts on both sides of full 8.5 x 11 sheets. In regards to the sheets provided, The 4 outside face ones are 1-sided, the 4 inside (dm/gm side) ones are two sided so you need to pick which notes you want to use, If you do plan on using the stock provided ones for DnD.About me specifically, I was planning on using this not only for DnD but for QR and other RPG's as well and likewise I don't need the DnD inserts during that time. That being said, my plan was to regularly swap inserts for whatever TT RPG I was GM'ing for. The thing is, these are incredibly tight and you can really only slide one piece (maybe 2) of paper in there, so don't think you are going to have 4 or 5 sheets in each folder sleeve and easily swap between them. Just considered that once installed you are just going to leave it as is, because its kind of a hassle to swap it.That being said, If you want to do what my plan was. probably not the best option for you. I suggest going to Walmart or whatever and buying (2) of the 1/2"to 1" wide notebook folders that come with the plastic shield on the outside and a folder and a small three ring on the inside. Then open the two folders up and place the edges together and run a strip of clear packaging tape down the middle to connect them. Then flip it over and tape the other side. You will then have a (4) sided DM/GM screen that allows protected inserts on the outside (as this one does) and additional pages on the inside. Also these are 1.19$ at Walmart each so it will cost you under 3 dollars for a much better option in that case. However, if you don't want to make one, you aren't planning on swapping sheets/notes, and you just want a nicely made, quickly shipped version. then this is the best option available online.Hope that helps!

Pros
  • The four panels of this screen give you plenty of space to organize your notes, maps, and other important information
Cons
  • The black color of the screen may be too depressing for some gamers to play games with
