You'll be amazed at the sense of immensity that the 10mm focal length creates. The lens isn't as sharp as, say, a Canon 50mm f/1.4, but in a way I think that's an advantage - there's something about Tamron's silky smoothness that really works when you're shooting at such a wide angle. In the images captured with this lens, the sky caught my attention the most. I can capture vast landscapes *and* amazing cloudscapes in one shot. That alone changed my understanding of scene composition and opened up new worlds for me in this regard. [Note. If you've never photographed at this focal length, check out Bing for some helpful tips. The ultra wide angle creates some interesting effects when the camera angle moves further or lower than the horizon.] One thing you might notice is that the wide angle captures an area filled with all sorts of highlights and shadows. You probably don't want to use a circular polarizer on a wide angle lens, but a good ND filter and/or a graduated ND filter can help if you need it. The downside is that the high quality 77mm filters required for this lens can be a bit pricey. In short, if you're at all interested in photographing outdoor landscapes, I recommend getting this lens. You will not be disappointed. For reference I have a Canon 7D.
