Review on Carlson Quality Brake H5818Q Hardware by Oscar Colangelo

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not as pictured on Drum Hardware Kits

I purchased this kit while doing the front brakes on my 2013 F-150. First, the name of this kit is wrong. This kit is for front disc brakes, not for drum brakes. Second, this kit differs not only from what is shown in the picture, but also from what is presented on the Carlson website. Their website says 8 clips and 4 rubber bushings, enough for the entire front axle (4 clips and 2 bushings per caliper). The picture here on Revain shows 4 terminals and 2 sockets. None of them are correct. You get a pack of 8 terminals and that's it, no sockets at all. I know brake pads usually come with new clips, but I wanted them because I've heard Carlson make good hardware and I wanted to replace everything while I was there. From the Revane and Carlson photos it looked like the clips were black (I thought they had some kind of good coating that would reduce brake noise etc). Also, rubber wears out over time, so I wanted to replace the bushings. This whole set consisted of 8 simple clips. I'm guessing they're stainless steel, but they seem just as basic as the ones that came with the pads, no black finish or anything. I actually threw it away and just used the clips that came with the new pads. Disappointed with Carlson for inaccurate description of their product. Look for other devices that you can replace.
