SuddenLink isn't coming to our home with wired internet, it's coming to my dad's, which is across the street from us and not far from Main Street (literally Main Street). For the last 5+ years we have run an ethernet cable to an intermediate point (a metal building), through an internet powered device, and then to an outdoor directional antenna pointed at our home. A total of 750 feet, 550 feet of cable over the air and 200 feet of Wi-Fi signal to our home. Besides signal loss (dad's internet is about 40 Mbps, ours is somewhere around 10), we had to switch WAP and POE several times due to lightning. With this extension kit, we routed the cable outside of Dad's house in a small piece of PVC (to protect it from herbivores) and then buried it directly (<6 inches deep) to our house - over 800 feet of cable. Now we have no signal loss - we get the same 40Mbps as him! Time will tell how safe this underground cable is from thunderstorms and subterranean creatures, but so far so good. We are very satisfied.
