I bought my 1988 4Runner when it was 2 years old. It came from the factory without a radio (it was a stripped down version, no frills). The original owner took it to Circuit City and installed the stereo. The installer did a great job with the wiring, cutting off all the connectors (and the part of the wiring harness they shouldn't have touched). It fits the original connector almost exactly, with no installation troubles. It's nice to have a plug for future replacements instead of constantly cutting the wiring harness until there's nothing left.
