The filter kit was very easy to install. I took my time double checking and cleaning parts of the engine bay as I worked, and yet it only took about an hour from start to finish. Before purchasing this system, I read many reviews. The three main benefits I've read about are increased torque, power and gas mileage. My first priority was hopefully improving gas economy and I was pleasantly surprised. I have a few regular rides of varying speeds and terrain (a mix of freeways, back roads and city driving). My normal mileage was 18.8-19.5mpg depending on the route, and now I average 21.5-22.1mpg on the same routes. I look forward to the changes. I also like the added quiet "growl" of the engine. The Eco-Boost will keep pushing you back into your seat after stopping, and that seems like an improvement too. A recent passenger said he experienced the same sensation as if he were sitting in the seat of an airplane during takeoff. a profusion of our bugs (in the south) filled my filter. I've seen filter mesh covers ("high throughput prefilters") offered by K&N (cost just over $40) and filter filters (cost $24.95 and a choice of colors). I bought blue filter filters and they fit the filter like a glove. This allows the filter to breathe without losing engine benefits while catching insects and large debris. You simply remove the pre-filter, clean it and put it back in place. The only negative I find is that K&N should provide the correct size clamp for all hoses. One of them is too small. K&N is better than this!
