I used this knife for the first time this morning and found that it actually releases from plastic very well. X. I used a knife to scrape off the protective layer in the middle, but I wait for the dishwasher to heat up for the rest. It seems to clean oversized swedes and turnips fairly well, even with a protective coating. The handle was easy to hold. My old vegetable peeler, which still works, has a wide, short handle, but I wanted something that put more distance between me and the veggies. Sometimes you don't want the shell to hit your hands. The handle feels thin but strong, when in use it's like holding a wooden (well, plastic) spoon. Very satisfied.
