Review on OXO 38281 Good Grips Colander by April Anson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The perfect complement to any black and white theme but with a twist

Aesthetics. There is no doubt that this is an attractive screen. That was one of the main arguments that made me buy it. It goes perfectly with other black and white kitchenware as well as other OXO products. It also does a very good job of not looking like your typical and boring colander. Functionality - it does what it's supposed to do and quite well. The legs have enough room for water to flow freely, and the slits on the sides gave me no trouble catching noodles or clogging the outlets. I also like the slightly curved rubberized handles. This design tends to feel more stable when lifting than a flat grip. What I don't like: Like a sieve, it does exactly what it's supposed to. The only thing that really confused me was the "lie" in the product description. As you will clearly see in my photos, this strainer is NOT marked 4 liters as listed on Revain. This doesn't affect function much other than the potential benefit of that extra liter, but it's important to list products correctly. I found this exact item at JCPenney and checked the price at Revain. And now Revain had a slightly lower price. Although I probably would have bought it personally to use that day, but the extra liter just kept me waiting a bit. That being said, I didn't really believe it would arrive as a 4 liter (there's no reason for OXO to release another near-exact line of products), but I was still hopeful. Hopefully others won't buy this on purpose and want a 4-litre capacity. Additionally, this is the perfect colander that anyone with an OXO utensil or black and white theme should DEFINITELY buy.
