Review on Topeak Defender Mountain Fender 26 Inch by Mohamed Greene

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Design Nice, plastic nylon material - scrap

M1 and M2 are nicely designed and look good on the bike, but the material used in production is brittle plastic nylon and the front and rear fenders broke from vibration, NOT an accident. The rear wing broke off right at the intersection. to the seat tube, which takes the most stress as it is used to hold the fender in place. This rear clip is made of thin, brittle plastic no more than 1/8" thick. This connection is critical to the function of the fender and should have been made of a harder plastic with a metal alloy sleeve or with an SKS strap connection - German Fender use I called support and they agreed to send a replacement saddle clip no questions asked which tells me they know they screwed up with the plastic design here It's been two weeks and I still haven't received a replacement for the seat clamp. This weekend the front fender broke off at the front fork linkage while riding on a flat dirt track you might road bike. The brittle plastic is completely cracked. Topeak make good products (love their road Morph frame pump) but they've missed it here for a very long time. I've done quite a bit of research since then and will be one of the German made SKS fenders take lkits and see what happens.
