The hard plastic is of good quality, but the shape and the fact that it doesn't do anything makes it less effective (IMO). 2) Water enters the handle. I've hand washed it and washed it in the dishwasher - both get water on the handle. My husband and I tried to see if the black part came off for washing but it doesn't.
