Bought and put on a cheap old Craftsman pipe lathe I bought when I was a beginner to see if I liked turning wood. I quickly switched to a Nova 1624-44 lathe as I really enjoyed sharpening. I chose a Supernova 2 chuck for a new lathe, thinking it would be bigger and better. The Supernova 2 cartridge was larger, heavier and better looking. However, it does not last as well as the PSI cartridge. The Supernova 2 requires constant tightening and runs loose even when turning balanced wood, while the PSI never loosens on very unbalanced logs/blanks. I have since ordered a PSI chuck adapter to use on a new lathe. I would highly recommend the PSI Barracuda, at least compared to the Supernova 2. I don't know how it compares to more expensive ammo, but for the price it's excellent value. There is only one downside that I have found and that is the lack of a set screw to use the chuck in reverse.
