I make 16 pounds of soap a batch and let them saponify in a mixing pot, all naturally insulated. Saponification usually takes about a week (sometimes 5 days). I monitor the conversion with a laser thermometer and see when the batch temperature is near or near room temperature, indicating the soap has finished reacting. Then I heat it in a double boiler, transfer the chunks to a smaller mixing bowl and add 190 proof Everclear and some glycerin. Then I pour (clap and slurp) hot, thick soup into these beautiful molds. I filled 9 of these molds with 16 pounds of soap and I have 9 small molds left. Perfect for my needs.
