This sheet is the basis for using the Makita Drywall Saw (XDS01Z). Sure, Makita says you can use cheaper snap-off knife blades, but these blades are definitely more versatile. These are quality blades, made in Japan, but as others have said, almost $13 each for 1.5 inches of thin steel - that seems like a bit of an overstatement. Perhaps if the tool catches on and Makita starts making more blades by selling them in bulk, or if the blade design is no longer patented, they can be bought at a better price. Now they work fine for me.
