Review on Rummikub Complete Original Full Size Exclusive: Unmatched Quality for Enjoyable Playtime by Micheal Looney

I love the game but not this version

I love this game it was very popular growing up in Eastern Europe in the 80's and 90's so it makes me nostalgic. However, we play by different rules, and by those rules you shouldn't see how many tiles your opponents have (you should bid when you have 3, 2 or 1 tile left). It doesn't work with that kind of stand, the old kind was better. I remember having a version of the official Rummikub with better boards in the mid 90's so I bought a set on e-bay. The carrying case that comes with it is really nice and more secure than the box in the older versions, but unfortunately the old boards I bought don't fit in the case. Also, according to the rules I play, we stack tiles in 7 pieces, and stacking these tiles is incredibly difficult - they are difficult to lift and they fall because they are so slippery. I wish I had a set from my childhood with marble-like tiles with sharp edges and wooden planks that doubled as wooden box walls to hold them. I think they don't make such high quality stuff anymore.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Not bad
