I bought this case to put an SSD drive in a laptop. I was able to clone my Dell laptop's original drive to an SSD, which in this case I temporarily installed. The 1TB drive clone took about 2 hours, which I thought was pretty fast. The cloning software was provided by the SSD manufacturer. I then removed the original laptop drive from the system and installed the cloned SSD into the laptop. The laptop booted up correctly, so the transfer was successful. I then put the original laptop drive in this case and now I have my laptop's backup drive.
