Although my husband and I share cooking chores, he is always a "companion" around the house. I have that for obvious reasons, knives and a cutting board. The whole set is very beautiful. While not large enough for large jobs, the cutting board is very thick and durable. The knives came very sharp and work well. They appear to be well made and durable. They're a little lighter than you'd expect from two splitters, but that doesn't affect performance. I'm more concerned that the handles will break off, but no problems so far. It was a fantastic addition to our kitchen. 10/10 recommend.
