The solder fume extractor is quite large but not very powerful. It's only capable of pulling smoke from about 4 to 5 inches away, but it's good for smaller jobs - and it's a lot better than nothing. You only have one lung, so you should protect them as much as possible! The LED light is decent but really shouldn't count on anything. It's also quite noisy. Overall, this is a good addition for small soldering jobs, especially wire tinning or aerial work. If you're working on big boards, it probably won't be close enough to the action to be effective. Also, I'm not thrilled when the time comes to have to look for additional filters. He only came with one.
